Pedestrian Safety
Innovative, ADA-compliant PSS devices make temporary pedestrian access routes safer.Pedestrian safety means safety for all pedestrians, including those with limited vision or mobility issues. PSS devices make sidewalk work zones accessible to all pedestrians, and safer. Future ADA-Compliant devices will greatly enhance pedestrian safety.
When we introduced our line of ADA-Compliant pedestrian devices, we also broadened our focus to include pedestrian safety, and as such, the people who are considered pedestrians.
Our definition of pedestrian of course includes people who can walk under their own power and have sufficient vision to navigate a city street. Our definition also includes those people with mobility issues, who require the use of a walking aid or wheelchair. Also included: people who are blind, or have limited vision, who rely on white canes or their own sense of touch for guidance.
Those people with mobility issues, or of limited vision, are perhaps the most vulnerable pedestrians traversing our sidewalks. We will continue to focus on their needs for safe, accessible, detectable guidance through sidewalk work zones and closures.
At PSS, we pursue a future where people, each and every one of them, arrive home safely at the end of the day.
